John Holcomb

This blog is focused on the creation of original artworks by Kansas outsider artist John Holcomb,

Sunday Afternoon

“Sunday Afternoon”. This painting is part of a series of horse paintings. The works depict three different parts of a day in life on the plains. This one represents enjoying the fruits of your labor during an afternoon ride, while taking stock in all that still needs to be done in the week ahead. To me it is a universal metaphor for life in general - take pride in what you’ve accomplished, set goals but mostly just keep on ridin’ and let those worries blow through your breezy hair. The last image in this series shows the full composition. The painting measures 76” x 54” and was created for Art Paris.
