This is my 2015 Year End mix. It is called “Life Wasted” named after the Pearl Jam song of the same name. It was an excellent year for new music. Below are a few of my favorite lyrics from the year.

“I’ve tasted a life wasted and I’m never going back again.” – Pearl Jam

“Long live the echoes of my despair, dissolving into nothing. I swear they’ll never take me alive, they’ll never pull my strings again!” – Motion City Soundtrack

“I don’t wanna live my life doing stuff I don’t like to do. I just wanna spend my time on creating something true. I don’t wanna live my life just pretending what I’m not. I just wanna spend my time living my life on the spot” – Millencolin

"Jesus hates your high school dances" – Josh Ritter

"You'd be cast as the Nazarene in the unrepenting desert scene near to me, your Mary Magdalene, our Lady of the Snow. Brightest and best are the children of the morning. Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid. Star of the west horizon deforming, come dawn in our darkness. Lend us thine aid. Guide where our infant redeemer is laid" – mewithoutYou

Albums of the Year

Ordering my favorite records this year is an arbitrary exercise. I feel like Wolf Alice deserves the #1 spot mainly because they came out of nowhere with their refreshing take on the 90s. Other highlights included Motion City Soundtrack redeeming themselves, Mumford & Sons making music I could actually enjoy listening to (I still don’t like their other records at all) and many bands on this list just stayed true and put out another great release.

  1. Wolf Alice – My Love Is Cool
  2. Motion City Soundtrack – Panic Stations
  3. Brandon Flowers – The Desired Effect
  4. Mumford & Sons – Wilder Mind
  5. Vanessa Carlton – Liberman
  6. Teenage Bottlerocket – Tales from Wyoming
  7. Millencolin – True Brew
  8. Wavves – V
